Pilates was developed by a German immigrant named Joseph Pilates who migrated to New York. This is where he developed a series of movements designed to build strength and balance in the body. This system is what he referred to as “Body Contrology”.
This practice of whole body health is seen in the series of movements Joseph Pilates taught. These work by helping to coordinate between breath and spine stabilization, while simultaneously moving the arms and legs, connecting the brain to a physical full body workout.
